Make two nations. Start a war.

But, as players, you won’t control the events of that war. Instead, you will consult the oracle of war—the WARACLE—to find out what happens. Every season, battles will be fought, there will be victories and defeats, but you won’t decide any of it: the rules will. Your job will be to explore the people living through the events the WARACLE dictates.*

This game is an experiment. It is very different from my other designs. There are a lot of moving parts and sub-systems, but even though it's a playtest I'm pretty confident they work. We've played nearly twenty sessions and had some pretty amazing times, so now I want to see how it works for other people.

No prep, no game master. Two to five players.** Intended for multiple sessions, not a one-shot. You can also follow the development on my blog.

Because the only good war is a game war.

* No, the WARACLE is absolutely not AI. It's just a bunch of rules written on paper that the players follow.

** I think it might work really well for solo play, though that's not my area of expertise. Likewise I think could play with a lot more than five and have the game flow work just fine.
